Collection Cahiers d’Artistes 2013

A first monograph to one’s name represents an important milestone on an artist’s road to international recognition. With its «Collection Cahiers d’Artistes», Pro Helvetia makes such an initial publication possible for promising Swiss artists in the visual arts field. The next series of monographs is now being prepared.

In mid-May, an independent jury will select eight candidates among the 130 applications received.

The jury is composed of the following people: Felicity Lunn, Director, CentrePasquArt, Biel/Bienne; Boris Magrini, Curator, Zurich; Edith Oderbolz, Artist, Basel; Catherine Pavlovic, Curator, Mamco, Geneva; Matteo Terzaghi, Artist, Bellinzona; Casper Mangold, Graphic Artist, Basel (without vote); Flurina Paravicini, Edizioni Periferia, Lucerne (without vote).

Pro Helvetia has been using this promotion tool since 1997 to support visual artists from Switzerland. As of 2012, a public call for applications will be launched once every two years.

The «Cahiers d’artistes» (artist monographs) are published by Edizioni Periferia, Lucerne/Poschiavo, with a print run of 1,200. Of these, the artists concerned receive 300 copies, 600 copies are distributed to selected art institutions and curators in Switzerland and abroad, and 300 copies are designated for sale via bookshops.
